We just presented the first films from the new DV1 class.

Working on silent films helps students focus on acting, and scene framing, not relying so much on the dialogue to explain a situation or action.

MS Film Festival 2015

Yesterday we had a chance to see 8 films submitted to the festival by our Middle School filmmakers!
It was a fun after school with popcorn, coke and some great laughs!

The Digital Video class is working on their first suspense/mystery/horror movie. Besides analysing a number of elements that are common, different and effective in these genre, we watched Hitchcock's Psycho, and two award-winner short films that quite scary.

Pedro Caltabiano, one of the students in class has shared with us this video that fits well our topic. Thanks for sharing Pedro!

Every quarter in Digital Video class, students are expected to turn in at least one individual assignment. This quarter, they could choose to produce a music video, or a documentary.

The Digital Video I students were asked to create a short film, of a theme of their choice, to practice two basic things: framing scenes and using dialog for the first time in class.

The Renaissance Fair Music Video

Last week, the Digital Video II class covered the first Renaissance Fair we had in the Middle School.

We worked together to capture as much footage of the event as possible. In class, students were introduced to the basics of Final Cut Pro, and had to deliver a music video of the event.

This was their first assignment this semester, and I believe they are all off to a good start :)
